Conrad’s Law Of Diminishing Intelligence
“I Would Challenge You To a Battle of Wits, But I See You Are Unarmed.”
Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit.
We are starting this off with some mean and witty quotes.
Math, everyone hates it. Well most people do.
If we search the memories of grade school “fractions” in our brains you will discover some nightmares.
You will remember also how using addition and multiplication are dIfFeReNt.
Middle management, politics, royalty, drivers in traffic, and HOA boards are all things that seem to be worse off the more mid wits you have working together.
This twist is what I call the Law of Diminishing Intelligence, akin to Spearman’s Law of Diminishing Returns.
Two half-wits do NOT make a full-wit; they actually combine to equal a 1/4-wit person. Mind-blown yet?

So, the law of diminishing returns isn’t just for number-crunching economists. It can also apply to other things, like intelligence.
If we think of “wit” as something we can measure, then two half-wits (each 1/2 wit) would add up to one full wit (1/2 + 1/2 = 1).
Human intelligence and skills don’t always add up neatly.
So, while the joke that two half-wits make a quarter-wit isn’t mathematically correct, it does highlight that partial skills don’t always combine to make a full set of skills.
Hugs through cyberspace!
